Stuart Spencer-Calnan Roberts Bakery

Roberts Bakery managing director Stuart Spencer-Calnan added to The Recycling Event line-up

We are very happy to reveal that Roberts Bakery managing director Stuart Spencer-Calnan will be speaking at The Recycling Event on 2 July at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

Roberts Bakery is one of the UK’s largest bakeries, supplying major supermarkets and others with its bread.

Over the last couple of years, Stuart has led the launch of a new identity, position and product offering to underpin Roberts’ vision to become the UK’s most innovative bakery brand.

Key to the company’s change was the development and launch of its Bloomer packaging, which can be recycled from home. It is the UK’s first and only bread brand to do so and has other sustainable packaging solutions in the works.

Stuart is working closely with the recycling sector to better understand the impact of a circular economy, and how the brand and other bakeries can play its part.

You can hear Stuart in the Design for Lifecycle Theatre at 14:00-14:30, where he will be discussing: Designing packaging for recyclability – The steps Roberts Bakery is taking to making its packaging suitable for recycling.

We are also happy to announce that Green Edge Applications director Jane Hall will be taking part in the panel discussion: What new technologies will revolutionise the recycling and sustainability value chains? In the Environment: For Love or Money Theatre at 15:30-16:30.

Green Edge Applications is a new innovative environmental consultancy, specialising in the development of environmental digital applications.

Jane is a Chartered Environmental Consultant with over 20 years’ experience in the industrial, environmental and waste management sector. She has worked with both commercial organisations and regulatory authorities in a senior capacity.

The Recycling Event is the new highly-anticipated event for the recycling supply chain and is in partnership with nine trade associations. These include: Alupro, British Metals Recycling Association, British Glass, CPI, INCPEN, RECOUP, Resource Association, The Recycling Association and Wood Recyclers Association.

More than 150 people are already attending, including major retailers, manufacturers, recyclers, local authorities and others. Make sure you are there too by booking tickets for The Recycling Event.

Tickets are just £85+vat, or you can exhibit for only £750+vat.
